A Perfect Fall Proposal

A couple months ago I received an emailed inquiry from Stephen about doing a couple’s portrait session. I didn’t want to assume it was a proposal, even though after years of being in this business…when the man contacts me (and he’s not a photographer) about a portrait session…..then there’s usually a sweet underlying purpose. And there was! About two weeks before our session, he let me know he was proposing to Jessica. We devised a plan, decided the best way to communicate without her suspecting anything and executed the whole thing perfectly!! She was so surprised and we caught every moment leading up to the big question and the tears and emotions following. We are so excited for you both, and even more honored that you choose us to capture such a precious moment in your lives!

And that sunset, seriously though!!!!! I don’t think we could have asked for a more perfect day!!

Post Wedding & Bridal Sessions

You may be thinking: Why would I want an after session? Just consider these reasons…

  • You were too anxious about your big day and didn’t have enough time to go to all your original locations…
  • The weather on your big day wasn’t your cup of tea….sometimes rain-boots and umbrellas aren’t the best props!
  • Maybe you weren’t the happiest with your bridal portraits, or just wished you had more time to create something epic! (Or you forgot to hire Aloha Kelly for your wedding…it’s ok – we forgive you! 🙂 )
  • Or MAYBE you just want an excuse to get back in your lovely wedding dress??

Don’t think any of those reasons are good enough to warrant a post-wedding bridal session? How about a few words from one of our Brides to convince you:

“For us, doing a post wedding shoot was a no-brainer! Getting to wear my beautiful dress one last time and marrying my best friend all over again was by far one of the best decisions we made. Being stress free while getting ready and having the best photographer and team working with you, you will not regret it. I am beyond blessed for Aloha and her team. From having a beautiful wedding but a full day of rain to getting to recreate my day all over again with just me and my love, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I got the best of both worlds.” – Nicole Jaeger Smith

Post Wedding Bridal Sessions can happen anytime after your wedding – weeks later, months later…years later. What a great way to celebrate an anniversary!!

Alex & Brian | Married

| Alex + Brian |

The day started off crisp with a beautiful sunny sky. Preparations were being made in the infamous Tiger Hotel’s banquet area in downtown Columbia, Missouri. Home of the Mizzou Tigers!

Alex spent the majority of her morning with her closest friends and family getting her makeup done and keeping her daughter entertained. She’s a makeup artist by trade so she made sure to jump in and apply her skills to some of her bridesmaids too. Brian was also getting ready in the hotel and he took the time to make sure that the entire ceremony setup was specifically to Alex’s liking. Can we say #winner?!

Once Alex was comfortably in her amazing gown, we set the scene for the first look in the lobby of the hotel. Tears and laughter were shared and we carried this joy outside to shoot the bridal party portraits and then on to the rooftop, with a spectacular view of beautiful downtown COMO. It was a tad bit windy on the rooftop, which actually created a perfect place for some fun veil play. After a few quick and final portraits, we headed to a hidden area in the hotel in order to allow the guests to enter and be seated for the ceremony.

A cocktail hour with all the attendees promptly begin post ceremony while the formal photos were taken. The room was quickly flipped into the reception hall with a luscious cake, sparkly tabletops and mood-setting up lighting. As the newly weds entered enthusiastically into the warm welcome of their closest relatives and friends, toasts were given and the first dance commenced. As Alex and Brian embraced each other lovingly and danced to their song, the crowd was quiet; which was just the opposite as soon as the DJ announced that the dance floor was open! The night was wild and loud, everything the bride and groom had hoped for. When the final song was played, and the night was coming to a close, Alex and Brian slipped away as a happily NEWLY married couple.
